Job summary

Soliant Health is seeking a dedicated Special Education teacher to support elementary students in a self-contained setting near Grasonville, MD. The contract runs Aug 17, 2026 to Jun 18, 2027, full-time (37.5 hrs/wk), with variable start times 8 AM–4 PM, and a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Class sizes start at five and may expand to nine or ten. You will implement PEALS-based instruction, tailor curriculum, monitor progress, and update IEPs while employing interventions like Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges,

Qualifications

• Valid Maryland Special Education Certification required.
• Experience with elementary-aged students in a self-contained setting preferred.
• Familiarity with intervention programs (Read 180, iSPIRE, Bridges, Orton-Gillingham) desirable.
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, documentation, and review processes.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility for variable schedules and caseload needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized instruction and behavioral supports.
• Monitor progress toward academic and emotional goals.
• Prepare for and participate in IEP meetings (typically Tuesdays).
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on holistic student success.
• Foster a safe, nurturing classroom environment.
