Job summary

Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE Long Term Substitute (LTS) Special Education teacher for Sweeney Elementary School from approximately August 24, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The role delivers direct and indirect services in a resource room or co-taught setting, aligns with IEP goals, and manages paperwork.

The successful candidate will have MN licensure in special education and experience with diverse disabilities, plus collaboration with families, paraprofessionals, and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have MN licensure in special education EBD, SLD, ASD or ABS.
• NVCI (CPI) training preferred.
• Experience with diverse disabilities and ability to deliver specialized instruction.
• District-provided training for specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect special education services in a resource room and/or co-taught classroom.
• Monitor progress on IEP goals and objectives; manage due process and paperwork.
• Communicate effectively with families and staff; develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans; direct paraprofessionals.
