Job summary

Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE Long Term Substitute (LTS) Special Education teacher for Sweeney Elementary School from approximately August 24, 2026, to January 4, 2027. The role delivers direct and indirect services in a resource room or co-taught setting, aligns with IEP goals, and manages paperwork.

The successful candidate will have MN licensure in special education and experience with diverse disabilities, plus collaboration with families, paraprofessionals, and staff.

Qualifications

• Must have MN licensure in special education EBD, SLD, ASD or ABS.
• NVCI (CPI) training preferred.
• Experience with diverse disabilities and ability to deliver specialized instruction.
• District-provided training for specific needs.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect special education services in a resource room and/or co-taught classroom.

Shakopee Public Schools is searching for a 1.0 FTE Long Term Substitute (LTS) Special Education (SpEd) Teacher to join the amazing staff at Sweeney Elementary School from approximately August 24, 2026, to January 4, 2027.

Job Summary

Deliver direct and indirect special education services to students in a resource room setting and/or co-taught classroom, monitor progress on IEP goals and objectives; follow due process and IEP procedures and manage the paperwork; communicate effectively with families and staff; develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans, direct the work of paraprofessionals(s).

Provides instruction in content area in accordance with each student's ability, creates a classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. Establishes effective working relationships with students and parents, works collaboratively with other staff members.

Education / Training / Experience

• Require MN licensure in special education EBD, SLD, ASD or ABS.
• NVCI (CPI) training preferred.
• Experience working with a variety of disabilities, and the ability to deliver specialized instruction to meet the individual needs of these students. Training for specific needs of the students in the program will be provided by the district.
• Experience with multiple instructional designs and differentiated instruction.

Daily rate ranges from $289.00 to $403.76 depending upon education level.
