Job summary

Woodridge School District 68 is seeking a Social Worker for elementary school leave of absence coverage. The position requires a School Social Worker (SSW) endorsement and State Board credentials.

The anticipated dates are 10/8–10/23/26 with coverage five days a week. The role involves crisis intervention, coordination with the building crisis team, IEP participation, family outreach, and collaboration with staff and various social welfare agencies.

Qualifications

• Certification and qualifications as set by the State Board of Education and the School Code.
• School Social Worker (SSW) endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and report incidents of child abuse and neglect.
• Provide crisis intervention.
• Assist the Principal in coordinating the building crisis team.
• Prepare a social developmental study in a case study evaluation.
• Participate in IEP conferences including the preparation of IEP goals and objectives.
• Participate in Teacher Collaboration Team meetings.
• Provide consultation and inservice to staff regarding social/emotional needs of students.
• Participate in the identification of students who require intervention.
• Provide direct services to students and families.
• Serve as a liaison between homes, schools, hospitals, social welfare agencies, therapists, alternative schools, preschools, parochial schools, public schools and others as needed.
• Prepare and submit reports regarding the social work program when appropriate.
• Expand knowledge in areas related to the job role as Social Worker, (including technology applications) by such means as reading current literature on students with special education needs, attending professional conferences and workshops and collaborating with other professionals doing similar work.
