Job summary

LEAD Public Schools in Nashville seeks an Elementary School Counselor to advocate for students’ well-being and academic success, collaborating across teams to implement the Be Well Initiative and socio-emotional learning within the school culture.

You will deliver whole-class guidance lessons, support RTI/504 processes, and use data to design targeted interventions for diverse learners, while staying current on counseling trends and policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a K-12 school setting (urban schools preferred).
• Previous experience leading RTI and S-Team processes is preferred.
• Experience implementing socio-emotional programs or mental health initiatives is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the Be Well Initiative, integrating socio-emotional learning and mental health practices into the school’s culture.
• Coordinate and lead school-wide efforts to implement and monitor RTI, S-Team, and 504s processes.
• Provide direct services to students and families through individual and group support.
• Perform home visits when necessary.
• Deliver crisis counseling and consultation to students and staff as needed.
• Conduct in-service training for staff on relevant topics, including mental health awareness and socio-emotional strategies.
• Implement school-wide student needs assessments and use data to design targeted interventions with stakeholders.
• Stay informed on state and national counseling trends and policies.
• Supervise counseling interns (optional).
• Fulfill other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

Current licensure in School Counseling, School Social Work, or Licensed Professional Counseling (with school-based experience)

Advanced degree in School Counseling or Social Work from an accredited college or university
