Job summary

Springfield Prep Charter School is seeking an Elementary School Counselor to support students' social and emotional needs through direct counseling, collaboration with teachers and families, and partnership with outside providers. The counselor will play a key role in crisis intervention, behavior support planning, and engaging families to help all students succeed.

Requirements include a Masters in social work or counseling and a DESE School Counselor License.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in social work, counseling, or school counseling is required.
  • Must hold a DESE School Counselor License or equivalent license.
  • Experience with elementary school students is strongly preferred.
  • Experience/training in applied behavior analysis is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead crisis intervention for students, including risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Collaborate with School Culture Team to develop behavior support strategies.
  • Consult with staff, families, and community agencies to meet social-emotional needs.
  • Lead family education workshops to support parents.
  • Oversee attendance and engagement efforts for students with low attendance.
  • Provide individual and group counseling focused on school adjustment.
  • Develop and lead social skill groups and peer mediation programs.
  • Attend IEP meetings and contribute to IEP goals and progress reports.
