Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate small group sessions focused on friendship skills, social development, and emotional regulation.
  • Support behavior interventions by collaborating with staff to design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior plans.
  • Conduct assessments and gather data to identify student needs and inform intervention strategies.
  • Partner with teachers and staff to promote a positive school climate and proactive behavior supports.
  • Assist in conflict resolution and peer mediation to build a respectful and inclusive school environment.
  • Develop and deliver classroom guidance lessons on bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and social skills.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in alignment with school policies.
  • Collaborate with families to provide strategies and resources that support student growth in social and behavioral skills.
  • Coordinate with community agencies and resources to support students with more intensive needs.
  • Participate in student support teams and other school-wide initiatives.
  • Stay current on best practices in school counseling, behavior intervention, and social-emotional learning.

Summary

Harrison Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for students by promoting their academic, social, and emotional well-being. This position will focus on providing targeted group support, including friendship and social skills development, and assisting with behavioral needs. The School Counselor will collaborate with educators, families, and the community to ensure all students have the tools and support they need to succeed.
