Job summary

Oakland Human Resources Consortium is seeking a 30 Day Paraeducator Student Support at Country Oaks Elementary. The role will complement and reinforce instruction under the classroom teacher and school program.

Start date is ASAP, with a 32.5 hour work week and duties across regular and special education settings. The position reports to the Principal and requires a High School diploma plus experience with elementary students.

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Previous experience working with elementary age children and/or students who are academically at risk.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, principals, students and office personnel.
  • Ability to work under direction of program coordinator and classroom teacher.
  • Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Complement, supplement and reinforce students' instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Work with identified children as required by the program curriculum.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled in-service sessions.
  • Attend staff meetings as requested.
  • Attend to a student with routine medical procedures or hygiene needs when required.
  • Keep accurate records on activities with students.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Principal or classroom teacher.

Location: Country Oaks Elementary

Reports To: Principal

Status: School Year 2026 - 2027

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Hours:32.5 Hours/Week

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Previous experience working with elementary age children and/or students who are academically at risk
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various staff members, principals, student, teachers and office personnel
  • Ability to work well under direction of program coordinator and classroom teacher
  • Show evidence of initiative and enthusiasm
  • Ability to keep accurate records on activities with students as required by program guidelines.
  • May be required to take a skills test
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Complement, supplement and reinforce students' instruction under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher in both special education and regular education classrooms.
  • Work under the direction of the classroom teachers with identified children as required by the program curriculum.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled in-service sessions, both at the local and county level.
  • Attend staff meetings when requested.
  • On an as needed basis paraeducator employees may be required to attend to a student whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistance with regular hygiene.
  • Keep accurate records on activities with students as required by the program guidelines.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Principal or classroom teacher.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma and/or related experience.

LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS:Ability to speak and write effectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
