Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks a Building-based Mathematics Coach under the Alabama Numeracy Act to improve K-5 student math achievement. The role excludes administrative duties and focuses on coaching, modeling instruction, and using data to drive instruction.

As a ten-month educator, you will collaborate with AMSTI regional specialists and site teams to implement rigorous tasks and interventions, advancing state math goals across schools.

Qualifications

• Hold a valid Alabama professional certificate in ECE/Elem Ed or Special Ed.
• Have a minimum of five years’ experience as an ECE/Elem/Special Ed teacher.
• Demonstrate math instruction/intervention expertise with numeracy focus.

Responsibilities

• Support instruction with emphasis on Tier 1 to prevent gaps.
• Collaborate with principals and faculty to implement coaching plans.
• Model evidence-based math instruction and interventions for teachers.
• Mentor and coach teachers with ongoing feedback.
• Use data to differentiate instruction and identify dyscalculia signs.
• Monitor student progress via formative assessments and adjust strategy.
