Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools seeks a Building-Based Math Coach to drive elementary math proficiency under the Alabama Numeracy Act. The role focuses on Tier 1 instruction, professional learning, and data-guided decision making to uplift student achievement.

The candidate will collaborate with principals, teachers, and regional coordinators, delivering targeted professional development and real-time coaching to strengthen mathematics instruction and student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Valid Alabama professional educator certificate in elementary or special education.
• Minimum of five years as an elementary or special education teacher.
• Proven expertise in mathematics instruction and early numeracy interventions, including dyscalculia interventions.
• Master's degree or completion of recommended professional development (or both).
• Professional development in AMSTI Math Foundational Training and/or OGAP.

Responsibilities

• Support instruction with emphasis on Tier 1 to keep students from falling behind.
• Collaborate with principal and faculty to plan coaching and math instruction to raise achievement.
• Facilitate math professional learning using coaching strategies, modeling, co-teaching, data collection, and debriefing.
• Model evidence-based math instructional and intervention methods for teachers.
• Mentor and coach teachers continuously in mathematical practice.
