Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools seeks a Mathematics Instructional Coach to provide leadership, professional learning, and coaching support to teachers. This 195-day position emphasizes co-planning, modeling, and reflection to raise mathematics achievement.

The role collaborates with school-level content specialists, admins, and teachers to identify improvement areas and implement systemic strategies aligned with ACPS goals. Licensed teaching background and 3–5 years of experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required (preferably Math).
• Virginia teaching license or Postgraduate license with endorsement in Elementary or Secondary Mathematics.
• 3–5 years of successful teaching experience; knowledge of current coaching practices and instructional trends.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, reflecting and classroom visits.
• Strengthen teachers' mathematics content knowledge and pedagogical repertoire.
• Develop job-embedded professional development aligned with division and long-range goals.
• Monitor progress and document coaching targets and outcomes.
• Collaborate with curriculum specialists, administrators, and teachers to improve student learning.
