Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking an Elementary interventionist at Academy South to support students who need extra help through small-group and co-instructional methods.

You will collaborate with classroom teachers, provide re-teaching sessions, monitor progress, and maintain intervention records.

• Associate degree with some training/exposure to education and teaching
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships

Responsibilities

• In collaboration with teaching faculty, identifies students who are below standards in specific skills and knowledge.
• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain a record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide “re-teaching” and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

Days of Service: 202 days (dependent upon start date, 202 is the maximum for the academic year)

JOB SUMMARY:
This position provides support to students needing additional assistance in meeting academic standards, through small group, individual and co-instructional methods.

• Associate degree with some training/exposure to education and teaching OR network equivalent
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively, maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
