Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a Bilingual Assistant (K-8) at Academy South to support classroom learning for diverse students and reinforce core instruction in both Spanish and English.

The role involves collaborating with teachers, providing tutoring and interventions, maintaining progress records, and supporting a safe, inclusive learning environment. Strong communication, tech competency, and a commitment to the school's mission are essential.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English.

• Associate's degree with some exposure to education (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Identify students below standards in skills with faculty collaboration.
• Assist students with assignments reinforcing learning concepts.
• Monitor groups or individuals for a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain records of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide re-teaching and tutoring around core instruction.
• Implement instructional programs under teacher supervision.
• Attend meetings and in-service sessions for job-related information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Christel House Indianapolis is currently seeking a Bilingual Assistant (K-8) at Academy South.

Days of Service: 202 Days (dependent upon start date, 202 is the maximum for the academic year)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• In collaboration with teaching faculty, identifies students who are below standards in specific skills and knowledge.
• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide 're-teaching' and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bilingual in Spanish and English
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Competency in using technology
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
• Associate's degree with some training/exposure to education and teaching (Preferred but not required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
