Job summary

Christel House Indianapolis is seeking a Bilingual Assistant (K-8) at Academy South to support students and collaborate with teachers in a dynamic learning environment. The role emphasizes tutoring, progress monitoring, and reinforcing core concepts through structured instructional activities.

The position involves assisting with assignments, monitoring student progress, and helping implement lesson plans under teacher supervision, with a focus on Spanish-English bilingual communication.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in Spanish and English.
• Ability and willingness to work collaboratively; maintaining cooperative and effective working relationships.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Competency in using technology
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• An agreement with the mission statement and goals of Christel House Schools.
• Associate's degree with some training/exposure to education and teaching (Preferred but not required)

Responsibilities

• Identify students who are below standards in specific skills and knowledge in collaboration with teaching faculty.
• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide ‘re-teaching’ and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.
• Attend meetings and in-service presentations for information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

Days of Service: 202 Days

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• In collaboration with teaching faculty, identifies students who are below standards in specific skills and knowledge.
• Assist students with assignments that reinforce learning concepts.
• Monitor individual and/or groups of students for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintain record of interventions and progress monitoring.
• Provide ‘re‑teaching’ and tutoring sessions around core instruction that was delivered by the classroom teacher.
• Implement, under the supervision of the teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
• Attend meetings and in‑service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Other duties assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to reach with hands and arms.
