Job summary

East Longmeadow Public Schools is seeking a Health Room Secretary at Meadow Brook School in East Longmeadow, MA to support the nurse and run the daily health room operations. The role requires compassion, organization, and reliable clerical skills to greet students and manage records.

The position is full-time, 35 hours per week, starting Jan 4, 2027, with a pay of $24 per hour. A high school diploma and strong communication and computer skills are essential, with school/healthcare experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organizational, communication, computer, and recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff.
• Prior experience in a school, medical office, health care, or similar setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the school nurse with the daily operation of the health room and provide support to students visiting the health office.
• Greet students, parents, and staff and respond appropriately to health room needs.
• Maintain accurate student health records, documentation, files, and other confidential information.
• Answer phones, communicate with parents/guardians, and perform general clerical and administrative duties.
• Assist with student first aid within the scope of the position and under established school procedures.
• Help maintain health room supplies, forms, records, and organization.
• Provide a calm, caring, and welcoming environment for elementary-aged students.
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student health and personal information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the school nurse, building principal, or designee.
