Job summary

Middlesex School in Concord, MA is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to support the Health and Wellness team and daily care of over 400 students in a boarding school setting.

You will assist with vital signs, patient prep, maintain supplies, and ensure confidentiality; prior pediatric clinical care and CPR training preferred. Training can be provided, with CHRI/CORI/SORI checks required. The role runs 10 months per year, with non-benefits eligibility for part-time staff.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of infection control.
• Prefer Medical Assistant certification but training can be provided.
• Prefer previous experience with adolescents and their families.
• Experience working with the range of adults tasked with supporting students.
• Appreciation for and understanding of counseling high school students in an international boarding school setting.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
• Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit.
• Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary.
• Secures patient information and keeps patient information confidential.
• Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
• Keeps the Wellness Center organized and the patient care areas clean.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
• Serves and protects the School by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements.
• Enhances School reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
