Job summary

JPS Cascades Elementary seeks a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support classroom activities and the educational development of students in a full-time role. You will assist in daily lesson planning, help students stay engaged, and maintain a positive learning environment.

The ideal candidate has strong communication and collaboration skills, patience, and empathy, with a background in education and proficiency with educational software. CPR/First Aid is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience with children in an educational setting is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate with teachers and students.
• Patient, empathetic and able to support student learning and development.
• Basic understanding of child development and teaching strategies.
• Proficient with technology and educational software to enhance learning.
• Background checks and trainings must be completed; CPR/First Aid a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons and activities.
• Support students during instruction, ensuring understanding and engagement.
• Help manage classroom behavior and foster a positive learning environment.
• Work with small groups to reinforce concepts and provide individualized support.
• Prepare instructional materials and set up classroom activities.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the lead teacher.
• Support students with special needs by implementing IEPs and accommodations.
• Supervise during lunch, recess, and non-instructional periods for safety.
• Communicate with teachers, parents, and staff about student progress and concerns.
• Participate in training sessions, staff meetings and professional development.
