Job summary

Qualifications

• All applicants must be designated as Highly Qualified.
• Requires 48 college credits or 7 credits in core subjects and passing WorkKeys.
• Prev. experience working with students desirable.
• Alternatives to the above may be accepted by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Assists classroom teacher with individual, small group, or large group instruction.
• Reinforces learning and devises strategies based on students' needs and abilities.
• Guides independent study, enrichment, or remedial activities.
• Distributes and collects workbooks, papers, and materials; corrects assignments and supervises tests.
• Assists with behavior management in line with school policies.
• Counsels with parents as directed by the teacher while keeping student information confidential.
• Supervises students during meals, bus duty, drills, assemblies, and field trips.
• May accompany students to special classes or assist the resource teacher.
• May substitute as a teacher on occasion; acts as information point for substitutes.
• Performs health procedures when needed under the school nurse; handles clerical duties as assigned.
