Job summary

Soliant is seeking a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter to provide 1:1 interpretation for an elementary student in a Jacksonville, NC area school. This contract position emphasizes accurate interpretation to support learning and participation across classroom activities and school events.

Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to address student needs while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in an inclusive educational environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
• Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings, preferably with elementary students.
• EIPA score or equivalent interpreting certification preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary school team.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a designated elementary student during school hours.
• Facilitate communication between the student, staff, and classmates in classroom and communal activities.
• Support instructional goals and student engagement by accurately interpreting verbal and signed communications.
• Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to address student needs.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and ethical standards.
