Job summary

Silvus Technologies, a Motorola Solutions subsidiary, in Irvine, CA, seeks an Engineering Technician - Electronics to perform hands-on lab work, run qualification tests, and assist design engineers with debugging. This onsite role reports to the engineering team and supports hardware development and transitions to manufacturing.

You will read schematics, solder fine-pitch components, and help document test results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of direct electronics or RF hardware support experience.
• Ability to read, interpret, and navigate complex electrical schematics, PCB layout prints, assembly drawings, BOMs.
• Hands-on skills with mechanical assembly and soldering, including fine-pitch ICs and QFNs under a microscope.
• Familiarity with lab instrumentation and basic scripting (Python/LabVIEW) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, parametric, and performance tests on RF, digital, and mechanical designs under hardware development direction.
• Support Product Qualification with environmental stress testing (thermal cycles, humidity, shock, vibration).
• Perform SMT soldering and rework to fine-pitch components and build custom test fixtures.
• Read schematics and debug at component, board, and system levels to identify root causes.
• Set up and operate RF and electronic lab instruments (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, programmable power supplies).
• Interface with Manufacturing and Engineering for New Product Introduction (NPI) and transfer to contract manufacturers.
• Log data, document failures, and draft SOPs for new test setups; maintain a safe, organized lab.
• Meet lab safety and cleanliness standards and manage calibration schedules for equipment.
