Job summary

Silvus Technologies, a Motorola Solutions subsidiary, seeks an Engineering Technician - Electronics for its Irvine, CA campus. The role centers on hands-on electronics lab work, extensive testing, and near-term involvement with NPI and production transitions.

Responsibilities include executing tests on RF/digital/mechanical designs, assisting with environmental qualification, SMB soldering, and documentation. Onsite, 5‑day week; background check and drug test required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 5 years of direct electronics or RF hardware experience.
• Read and navigate complex electrical schematics, PCB layout prints, assembly drawings, and BOMs.
• Hands-on SMT soldering and rework under a microscope for fine-pitch components.
• Knowledge of hand assembly tools and screw types.
• Understanding of component sizes/packages and wire gauges.
• Familiarity with DMMs, oscilloscopes, variable power supplies, and electronic loads.
• Desirable scripting experience (Python, LabVIEW) to control instruments.
• Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
• Must be a U.S. Person due to U.S. federal contracts.
• Employment contingent on background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Execute detailed functional, parametric, and performance tests on RF, digital, and mechanical designs.
• Support Product Qualification for environmental stress testing (thermal, humidity, shock, vibration).
• Perform SMT soldering and rework down to fine-pitch components under a microscope.
• Assist engineers in isolating component-, board-, and system-level defects.
• Set up and operate RF and electronic lab instruments (VNAs, spectrum analyzers, scopes).
• Interface with Manufacturing and Production for New Product Introduction (NPI).
• Log data, draft failure analyses, and create SOPs for test setups.
• Maintain a clean, safe, ESD-compliant lab and manage calibration schedules.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
