Job summary

Bonneville Power Administration seeks an Electronics Engineer to perform complex engineering studies and develop designs for protection, control, and communications systems. You will plan tests, energize equipment, and support mission-critical grid operations from system control centers.

The role requires an ABET‑accredited engineering degree or equivalent combination, with eligible professional registration or passing the FE exam as possible pathways; GS‑levels define required experience.

Qualifications

• BASIC REQUIREMENT: Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program or equivalent.
• Combination of education and experience that shows knowledge of engineering science and its applications.
• Professional registration/licensure (EI, EIT, or PE) or FE exam or equivalent.
• Three GS levels describe progressively higher specialized experience in engineering roles.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform atypical or highly difficult professional engineering studies and assignments.
• Determine nature and extent of problems and actions to resolve conflicts in requirements and constraints.
• Develop or review designs, specifications, and cost estimates for control, protection, and telecom systems.
• Plan and conduct tests and energization of new protection, control, data acquisition, and communication equipment.
• Provide support for mission-critical transmission grid operations 24x7, real-time control systems, and dispatcher support.
