Job summary

ABB is seeking a Component Engineer - Electronics and PCB in Richmond, VA to lead lifecycle management of PCBA components, collaborate with R&D, SCM, QA, and Production, and drive NPI and quality projects for UPS, PDU, and STS products in the data-center segment.

You will review specifications, ensure production readiness, and work with contract manufacturers and EMS to resolve manufacturing issues while aligning with safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering; minimum 5 years in PCBA manufacturing.
Experience with SMD/THD components, PCB layout, and Gerber files required.
Proficiency with PCBA testing: AOI/AXI, ICT/FCT/JTAG, solderability, contamination checks.

Responsibilities

Manage lifecycle of PCB and electronic components with Product Engineers.
Interact with contract manufacturers and EMS; participate in PCB reviews and quality improvements.
Lead NPI, quality, and change projects; analyze components for obsolescence and risk.
Collaborate with design engineers on prototypes and reliability testing; resolve issues cross-functionally.
