Job summary

ABB in Richmond, VA seeks a Component Engineer – Electronics and PCB to lead the lifecycle of PCB and electronic components for UPS, PDU, and STS products. You will serve as the design authority, ensure quality and production readiness, and coordinate with R&D, SCM, Quality, and Production to implement robust engineering solutions.

You will review specifications, support manufacturing processes, and drive tests to ensure reliability, safety, and compliance across the data center portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in electrical/electronics engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing and working with SMD and THD components, PCB layout, and Gerber files.
• Experience with PCBA testing procedures (AOI, AXI, ICT, FCT, JTAG).
• Knowledge of PCB guidelines for component placement and IPC/CE standards; multilayer boards a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage lifecycle of PCB and electronic components with Product Engineers.
• Interact with contract manufacturers and EMS to resolve manufacturing issues; participate in PCB layout reviews.
• Lead NPI, quality, and change projects; analyze components for obsolescence and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate with design engineers on prototype builds and reliability testing; resolve component/production issues.
