Job summary
ABB is seeking an experienced Component Engineer – Electronics and PCB to support the performance and reliability of UPS, PDU, and STS products in data centers. You will lead electronics and PCB components, review manufacturing processes, and ensure production readiness while collaborating with R&D, SCM, Quality, and Production teams.
Responsibilities include lifecycle management, part evaluation, PCB layout reviews, NPI support, and obsolescence risk mitigation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in electrical/electronics engineering with at least 5 years' PCBA manufacturing experience.
- Experience with SMD and THD components, PCB layout, and Gerber files.
- Experience with PCBA testing procedures (AOI, AXI, ICT, FCT, JTAG).
- Knowledge of IPC/CE standards and PCB guidelines; multilayer stack-ups.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP; familiarity with Windchill a plus; CAD/SolidWorks a plus.
Responsibilities
- Manage lifecycle of PCB and electronic components with Product Engineers.
- Evaluate new PCB parts to specs and quality standards.
- Interact with contract manufacturers to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Review PCB layouts and propose quality improvements.
- Support NPI, quality and change projects.
- Analyze components for obsolescence and risk mitigation.
- Collaborate with design, SCM, and production on prototypes and tests.
