Job summary

ABB Smart Power in Richmond, VA is seeking a Battery Service Engineer to oversee the deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle of UPS battery infrastructure. You will move from hands-on work to program-level ownership, ensuring uptime and safety for critical backup power systems.

Responsibilities include developing installation, startup, configuration, maintenance, and testing programs; leading Field Service Engineers and vendors; defining SOWs and SLAs; and applying diagnostic tools to identify

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering with 6+ years in field service for industrial UPS systems.
• Experience with VRLA, NiCad, and Lithium-Ion batteries.
• Proficiency with CMMS and data analytics tools (Excel/Power BI).

Responsibilities

• Oversee deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle of UPS battery infrastructure.
• Lead field service team, define SOWs, SLAs, and audit field reports.
• Perform RCA and implement preventative actions.
• Travel to domestic client sites 50–75% initially.
