Job summary

On-Board Services, Incorporated, is seeking an Electron Microscopy Technician for the 2nd shift in Wilmington, DE. This is a 1-year contract with potential extension based on performance.

You will support R&D/TS&D and Manufacturing teams, preparing samples and performing FIB-SEM analyses, EDS, and EBSD, ensuring data quality and reporting to customers. Qualifications include a BS in a related field and experience with electron microscopy; benefits include 401K, dental, life, medical, vision

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent knowledge and experience acquired through on-the-job training.
• Experience with electron microscopy preferred.
• Experience handling chemicals in a laboratory environment.
• Commitment to laboratory and workplace safety.
• Ability to work in a team environment while meeting tight timelines and competing priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis following established procedures using equipment such as mechanical polishers, plasma or sputter coaters, and FIB-SEM cross-section milling and lift-out procedures.
• Perform FIB-SEM analyses, including imaging, Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS), and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD).
• Assess basic data quality and organize collected data for reporting to customers.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
• Dispose of laboratory waste according to established protocols.
• Coordinate work and maintain effective communication with the first-shift FIB-SEM operator.
• Adhere to all laboratory and workplace safety protocols.
• Support additional analytical activities as needed.

Education

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent knowledge and experience acquired through on-the-job training.

Working under the direction of experienced scientists, the candidate will provide analytical support for Research & Development (R&D), Technical Service & Development (TS&D), and Manufacturing teams.
