Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque is seeking an Electromechanical Technologist for the Explosive Component Operations Science and Technology department. The role focuses on process and equipment optimization and assembly of energetic components in a production environment on site.

Responsibilities include performing welding, cleaning, powder pressing, and exploratory work, plus diagnostics for nonconformances and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in a STEM-related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Active DOE Q Clearance, or equivalent is required to start

Responsibilities

• Execute internal manufacturing activities including MQ deliverables and experimental work
• Perform resistance welding, laser welding, cleaning, explosive powder pressing, explosive handling, soldering and other hands-on operations
• Support or implement corrective or preventive actions
• Be involved with new process/equipment development and qualification
• Perform initial diagnostics on nonconformances, monitor area health, identify ways to increase yields and mistake proof processes
• Seek out and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement
• Implement new manufacturing technologies or equipment
