Job summary
Caterpillar is seeking a Design Engineering Specialist – Electromagnetic Design to lead electromagnetic design, analysis, and optimization of our electric motor and generator portfolio. This techncial expert will drive architectures, efficiency targets, and manufacturability across construction, mining, and energy applications.
Based in Mossville, IL, you will collaborate with mechanical, controls, and validation teams to deliver best-in-class electric machine solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in electric machine theory, motor design, and electromagnetic analysis.
- Experience leading engineering activities through concept development, validation, and production.
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to convey complex ideas to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical authority for electromagnetic design of motors and generators; set architectures and direction.
- Drive targets for efficiency, power density, losses, and reliability; guide technology decisions.
- Mentor engineers and strengthen electromagnetic analysis capabilities across teams.
- Lead design, analysis, validation, and production support for electric machine platforms.
