Caterpillar Inc. in the United States seeks a design-focused engineer for its Electric Power Division. You will deliver automation and control solutions for generator switchgear systems, handling retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities include PLC/HMI development, testing, and field support, with cross‑functional collaboration with dealers, factories, and design teams. Travel is 35–50%.

Qualifications

• Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and define project scope with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs and develop PLC/HMI applications using standard templates.
• Collaborate with CAD to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Provide training and field support for technicians and customers.
• Submit project documentation and expenses in a timely manner.

Education

BSEE / BSEET preferred or equivalent experience
