As a key member of our plant maintenance department, the Electro Mechanical Technician (EMT) plays a vital role in ensuring factory operations run smoothly by managing the upkeep, diagnostics, and restoration of our electrical and mechanical systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Execute preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems within a collaborative team setting.
- Carry out necessary corrective maintenance tasks and system calibrations to ensure peak performance.
- Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by strictly adhering to all safety protocols, including LOTO, PPE usage, risk assessments, and permit requirements.
- Leverage all available resources, such as technical manuals, electrical schematics, and team expertise, to effectively troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
- Operate various tools and diagnostic instruments in a safe and correct manner.
- Determine the specific components needed for repairs by consulting technical documentation, bills of material, and assembly drawings.
- Make necessary machine adjustments to ensure continuous and efficient production support.
- Maintain a wide range of industrial components, including switchgear, PLC automation, motors, VFDs, sensors, and control valves.
- Contribute to the success of the Mahle Operational Excellence system through active participation.
- Record all maintenance activities, repairs, and future requirements within the SAP Plant Maintenance CMMS platform.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned to support department goals.
- Ensure all maintenance work is executed with a high level of professionalism and technical proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Possess an Associate degree, a relevant maintenance certification, or equivalent practical experience in industrial automation or electrical maintenance.
- Bring at least 3 years of experience as an Electro Mechanical Technician, or a 2-year technical degree combined with 1 year of hands-on experience.
- Demonstrate a track record of diagnosing issues, replacing faulty parts, and modifying equipment to meet operational standards.
- Show flexibility to work overtime hours as the business requires.
- Display proficiency in computer navigation to record data and retrieve necessary technical information.
- Apply basic mathematical skills to assist in system calibrations and mechanical repairs.
- Utilize your working knowledge of rigging and pipefitting techniques.
- Apply your understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic principles to daily tasks.
- Demonstrate an advanced grasp of industrial electricity, including motor controls and basic electrical theory.
- Show advanced expertise in PLC-based controls and industrial automation, specifically with Siemens or Allen Bradley systems.
- Maintain familiarity with Arc Flash and LOTO safety regulations to protect yourself and others.
- Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Utilize strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges.
