Job summary

MEC (Mayville Engineering Company, Inc.) in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, seeks a qualified electromechanical technician to join our manufacturing team. This role involves maintenance, installation, testing, and upgrades of industrial equipment to ensure high uptime and safety compliance.

The ideal candidate has an Associate’s degree or technical certification and at least five years of electromechanical experience in manufacturing, with strong PLC and automation knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of electromechanical codes, standards, and safety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to the highest quality workmanship.
  • Physical stamina to work in various positions for extended periods.
  • Advanced knowledge of pneumatic, wiring, and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, testing, and maintenance of equipment per engineering principles and safety regulations.
  • Programs, troubleshoots, and maintains PLCs and other forms of industrial automation.
  • Provides technical support to other departments regarding process and/or equipment changes.
  • Installs wiring circuits, switches, controls, and other electronic devices per specifications.
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems and makes timely repairs to reduce downtime.
  • Identifies areas to improve operations and carries out upgrades.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
  • Performs lock out/tag out procedures and adheres to PPE and EHS policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Requirements
  • Five years professional electromechanical experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Some physical demand. Often lifts light to heavy-weight material. Frequent lifting/moving average weight (up to 50 lbs/11-27 kgs) material.
  • Ability to perform occasional to frequent pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, twisting, crawling, and/or reaching over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to operate motorized vehicles over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Ability to stand and / or walk constantly over a full work shift on concrete (8-12 hours).
  • May be exposed to noise levels for which hearing protection must be worn over a full work shift (8-12 hours).
  • Assists Plant Manager in off-hours maintenance calls as needed.
