Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo seeks a Journeyman Electrician to inspect, repair, install, and maintain electrical systems and equipment in our facilities. The role has no supervisory responsibilities and requires adherence to safety codes.

A high school diploma or GED and a valid Journeyman license issued by the Texas TLDR or equivalent is required, with preferences for blueprint reading, tool proficiency, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Licensed Journeyman Electrician with TLDR or equivalent state license or combination of related experience/training to total 4 years.
• Background checks required per state/federal law and GA-48 compliance.

Responsibilities

Major/Essential Functions

• Knowledge of the tools, materials, methods, and practices of the electrical trade.
• Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the electrical trade.
• Ability to work from penciled sketches and blueprints.
• Skill in using the standard tools and equipment of the electrical trade.
• Skill in locating and correcting defects in electrical systems and equipment.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Licensed Journeyman Electrician with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (or other state), OR a combination of job-related experience and training to equal four (4) years.

In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conduct research involving critical infrastructure. It will require background checks, including, but not limited to, criminal history and other security-related screenings. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of these checks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to use and operate a computer.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
