Job summary

Nucor is hiring an electrician/electrical technician for our Los Angeles, CA facility. You will install, modify, and maintain electrical systems in a manufacturing environment, including control circuitry and 480V distribution panels.

You will diagnose malfunctions, read blueprints, and coordinate with engineers to minimize downtime. Candidates should have at least 1 year of facility experience, be able to work varied shifts, and demonstrate strong safety practices.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience as an electrician/electrical technician in a manufacturing facility.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, technical understanding, and zeal.
• Familiarity with drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics.
• Must be able to work any shift as required, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Install and modify electrical machinery, equipment, and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants.
• Must know the following: Control Circuitry, 120/240/480 Volts Systems. 3-phase electrical.
• Diagnose the cause of electrical or mechanical machine malfunctions and assess the job.
• Collaborate with an electrical engineer if needed to decrease excessive downtime.
• Perform routine preventive Maintenance.
• Ensure all electrical components adhere to standards.
• Mechanical experience would be preferred; ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on presses, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
• Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, Safety rules, lockout/Tag out, and regulations.
• Be able to work on electrical control circuits, high voltage distribution panels 480v. Max. and overhead cranes.

Compensation: $28.48 - 32.96 per hour (based on experience), plus weekly production bonus.

Potential compensation with bonus: 0-50%; $42.72 - $49.55 per hour.

*bonus flunctuates on a weekly basis; the average bonus has been around 50%.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 1 year of experience as an electrician/ electrical technican in a manufacturing facility, or completion of an accredited electrician technician schooling program.
• Experience with equipment maintenance, technical understanding, and zeal.
• Familiarity with drafting and understanding blueprints and schematics.
• Must be able to work any shift as required, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of experience as an industrial electrician in a manufacturing facility.
• Industrial maintenance experience, a plus.
