Job description

Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Technician to support the design, development, testing, and implementation of novel undersea sensors. As an experienced electrical technician, you will be expected to leverage your skills to assemble, evaluate/test, and maintain small electrical systems. Fine pitch soldering experience is required, as circuit card assemblies often require modification during design phases.

Experience with lab test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, and function generators) is desired. You will provide feedback to the design team to help improve the assembly and maintenance of the systems, as well as aid in troubleshooting and addressing any issues the system may encounter.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Reading schematic electrical system design plans and recommending improvements.
  2. Calibrating instruments and diagnosing faulty equipment.
  3. Ordering, tracking, and maintaining inventory of electrical supplies and equipment.

Minimum qualifications:

  • 2-year electrical, technical, or related degree, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience assembling, maintaining, testing, and repairing prototype R&D systems.
  • Existing certifications relevant to creating hardware for harsh/defense environments (e.g., IPC soldering). Expired certifications are acceptable if the skill set has been applied within the last 2 years.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience interfacing and communicating with engineers and scientists.
  • Familiarity with tools and parts used in assembly and testing of electronic hardware, including soldering irons, connectors, wires, shrink sleeving, epoxies, and fault-testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, impedance analyzers, and function generators.
  • Experience working with piezoelectric materials is a plus.
