Job summary

RTX Corporation, through Collins Aerospace, is hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer focused on Electrical Integration within the main cabin seating team. You will design major components, integrate electrical systems, and support FAA certification testing.

You will collaborate with electrical, design, vendors, and project teams while preparing work statements and release drawings in NX to ensure fit, form and function.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Integrate electrical components and wiring into design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements.
• Liaises between electrical integration team, electrical certification, design engineering, vendors and project teams.
• Prepare work statements for electrical integration team.
• Direct the work of outsource resources assigned on projects in electrical integration areas.
• Verify system configuration and block diagrams.
• Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (NX) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical and electrical designs.
• Design brackets and fixations for electrical components and wiring.
• Verify structural acceptability of designs by testing prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through static and dynamic crash testing.
• Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
• Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.
