Job summary

JM Test Systems is seeking an Electrical Safety Technician to test and certify high-voltage safety equipment in the lab and at customer sites. The role involves testing dielectric equipment, calibration of instruments, and ensuring compliance with ASTM/OSHA/NETA standards.

Travel and overnight stays are expected; strong attention to detail, safety, and documentation are essential. A high school diploma plus safety/compliance knowledge is required, with preferred techno-certified education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of electrical safety concepts and equipment, and comfort working with high-voltage equipment under strict safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically active environment, indoors and outdoors.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays.
• Preferred: Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
• Preferred: Experience in a calibration, test lab, ISO 17025 accredited lab, or industrial electrical setting, and familiarity with NETA, ASTM, or ANSI standards.

Responsibilities

• Test and certify safety equipment.
• Keep instruments accurate by testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting.
• Identify non-conformances and flag items for repair or decommissioning.
• Maintain accurate testing and inspection records.
• Safely operate test benches, support setup/teardown, and manage lab inventory.
• Share test results and status with supervisors and customers.
• Follow all safety protocols and wear PPE in high-voltage environments.
