Job summary

Prattwhitney is seeking an Electrical Prototyping Fabrication Technician in Tucson, Arizona. The technician will be responsible for fabricating and repairing complex prototype electrical assemblies while leading other technicians in various engineering tasks.

The ideal candidate should hold an AA/AS degree or equivalent, have at least 8 years of relevant experience, and be capable of obtaining a U.S. Secret security clearance. A comprehensive benefits package is included.

Job description

Electrical Prototyping Fabrication Technician – Onsite, Tucson, AZ

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, maintain, modify, and repair complex prototype electrical assemblies.
  • Interpret drawings, schematics, 3D models, written notes, and specifications.
  • Lead other technicians in the layout and fitment of electrical, electro‑optical, electro‑mechanical, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Adapt methods and procedures to test, analyze, and troubleshoot new hardware.
  • Apply advanced skills to test, inspect, and prove‑in complex prototype electrical assemblies.
  • Lead in electrical/mechanical engineering drawing peer reviews to validate engineering design specifications and develop producible prototypes.
  • Assess complex designs to ensure producibility, maintainability, safety, and reliability.
  • Communicate build concerns to customers and collaborate on design improvements.
  • Work in closed/proprietary/classified areas without personal communication devices such as phones or tablets.
Qualifications – Required
  • AA/AS degree or equivalent 2‑year post‑high‑school training with a minimum of 8 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in an engineering environment testing and fabricating electrical assemblies in at least four of the following areas: cables or wire harnesses, breakout boxes and chassis, circuit‑card modifications, and racked electronic equipment troubleshooting.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government–issued Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting schematics and drawings to identify producibility issues.
  • Military electronics or avionics training.
  • Familiarity with 3D drawings and CAD tools.
  • J‑STD‑001 solder certification.
  • IPC 610 & 620 acceptability certifications and inspection experience.
