Qualifications

Job description

  • Lead design efforts for electrical system analysis using engineering software and tools
  • Create designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards
  • Interact with clients to understand needs, gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build relationships
  • Support consulting project execution and lead planning, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Document design decisions and client instructions
  • Monitor project design progress, percent complete, and fee expenditure
  • Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions with senior engineers and consultants
  • Conduct in-process design reviews of electrical systems, calculations, and specifications
  • Implement quality control processes to meet firm, industry, and client requirements
  • Train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams
  • Stay current with electrical engineering trends, technologies, and best practices
  • Contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety and mitigate electrical-system risks
  • Identify project problems, seek advice from the Project Manager, and oversee projects through bidding and construction administration
  • Support industrial, manufacturing, and MEP projects delivering high-performance, energy-efficient designs aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 5 years of experience minimum required; 6 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in producing technical plans and specifications
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, including circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics
  • Proficiency with lighting photometric software such as AGI, Elum Tools, or Visual Lighting
  • Proficiency with power system analysis and design software such as SKM/PTW or Easy Power
  • Experience with energy code compliance software such as ComCheck
  • Proficiency with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards
  • Proficiency with NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI) reference resources
  • Knowledge of Master Specification editing and eSPECS
  • Knowledge of BIM software and CTC Revit Add In Tools
  • Proficiency with Smart Engineering Design Assist (SET) Tools within Revit
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 15% with occasional overnight stays
