Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced engineer who can lead design and project efforts from concept to completion. You will review drawings for conformance, mentor staff, and manage scope, schedule, and budget while adapting to evolving client needs.

The role requires a PE license and 12 years of relevant experience, with knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu, and a strong background in engineering design, codes, and industry standards, to deliver high-quality projects on time.

Qualifications

  • 12 years of relevant experience and high school diploma or equivalent required.
  • PE license required.
  • Additional certifications aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering preferred.
  • FE exam completion preferred.
  • Sustainability certifications and accreditations (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL) preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards.
  • Knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
  • High technical aptitude and ability to learn and train others.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Lead project and design efforts from concept design through completion.
  • Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
  • Produce solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges.
  • Mentor less experienced designers and engineers and provide technical oversight.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partner and customer relationships to expand business opportunities.
  • Communicate with clients and architects regarding requirements, scope, and project progress.
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress.
  • Oversee project and design quality through reviews and check-ins, including final reviews.

Job description

  • Direct and oversee preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Lead project and design efforts from concept design through completion
  • Review shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications
  • Research system or equipment feasibility and recommend products for applications
  • Produce solutions to complex engineering problems and design challenges
  • Ensure drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements
  • Mentor less experienced designers and engineers and provide technical oversight
  • Recommend project staffing and direct project technical and administrative staff
  • Assist Technical Managers and directors with practice- and sector-level goals, policies, objectives, and standards
  • Influence development of tools, resources, company practices, and engineering standards
  • Oversee project and design quality through reviews and check-ins, including final reviews
  • Develop and maintain strategic partner and customer relationships to expand business opportunities
  • Participate in client, company, and industry events
  • Communicate with clients and architects regarding requirements, scope, and project progress
  • Visit job sites to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress
  • Resolve conflicts involving owners, architects, and contractors
  • Track emerging technologies, industry trends, codes, and standards and share technical improvements
  • Teach and apply Henderson’s design guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures
  • Perform project management and project coordination responsibilities, including scope, schedule, design team, client meetings, quality, questions, and delivery
  • May serve as Engineer of Record with responsibility for project signing and sealing
Requirements
  • 12 years of relevant experience and high school diploma or equivalent required
  • PE license required
  • Additional certifications and accreditations aligned with the relevant technical field (e.g., BEMP, CPD, CDP, NICET, RCDD, etc.) required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering preferred
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred
  • Sustainability certifications and accreditations (e.g., CDP, LEED, WELL) preferred
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency in engineering design, A&E industry, codes, design guides and standards
  • Working knowledge of earned value, contracts, and construction processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Bluebeam Revu
  • High technical aptitude and ability to learn, understand, and utilize various systems and processes
  • Ability to train others on systems and processes
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
