Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for large institutional/industrial projects, coordinating with disciplines and reviewing for code compliance. The role involves site sessions, documentation, and ensuring on-schedule delivery.

Qualified candidates will have 3+ years in electrical design of buildings, experience with design teams, and a PE license or eligibility. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and EasyPower is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• PE license required or licensed in location (or eligible).
• Experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems).
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and power system analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the electrical design team's work on large projects through schematic and contract doc phases.
• Meet with agencies for code compliance reviews.
• Coordinate workload to meet project schedules.
• Conduct site work sessions with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Review electrical documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
• Prepare and edit electrical specs; select equipment and systems.
• Coordinate addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders; incorporate changes into documents.
• Provide construction contract administration as needed.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Coordinators, or Technicians.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job description

In the role of Electrical Engineer we’ll count on you to:

• Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
• Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
• Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
• Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
• Provide construction contract administration as needed
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
• Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
• Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
• Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
• Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
