Job summary

POWERX seeks a highly skilled Technical Instructor to design, develop, and deliver advanced training programs for electrical power systems. You will serve as the SME and lead hands-on, classroom, and blended training at customer sites and internal facilities.

You will coordinate with the Workforce Development leadership to ensure curricula align with industry standards and evolving technology, delivering safe, effective instruction to field personnel, engineers, and technicians.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7–10 years hands-on experience in electrical power systems.
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching, training, or mentoring in technical environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or related field; higher degrees preferred.
  • Must work safely in energized substation environments per NFPA 70E.
  • Proficiency with relay test software and documentation platforms.
  • Strong curriculum development and instructional delivery skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and deliver technical training courses on apparatus testing, protection and control systems, and microprocessor relay programming.
  • Prepare lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, lab exercises, and reference materials aligned with standards (NETA, NFPA 70E, IEEE).
  • Support development of e-learning modules and blended learning programs.
  • Maintain training records, course documentation, and certification tracking.
  • Coordinate with clients, scheduling teams, and internal departments to plan training logistics.
  • Report on training activities to the VP of Workforce and provide curriculum recommendations.
  • Collaborate with managers and SMEs to identify training gaps and improve curricula.
