Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Detroit office to support telecommunications projects within the Transmission & Distribution practice. You will design electrical systems, participate in grid modernization, and help connect renewable assets with secure communications and monitoring.

You will work on networks, private LTE, fiber, and rural broadband initiatives while leveraging GIS, 3D scanning, and model-based design tools to deliver client-focused solutions across

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree with 3 years of experience.
• FE exam completed or EIT certification preferred.
• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in quantitative problems.
• Proficient in standard engineering practices and tools.
• Solid computer skills including Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.
• Attention to detail, teamwork, collaboration, and problem solving.
• EIT certification preferred for career development.

Responsibilities

• Executes electrical design of projects from concept through design completion.
• Researches, designs, and compiles project data for managers.
• Applies electrical concepts, codes, and procedures in practice.
• Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
• Creates deliverables including device configurations, diagrams, specs.
• Utilizes GIS, 3D scanning, and model-based design tools.
• Reviews drawings and client presentations for various projects.
• Engages with clients to develop relationships with key contacts.
• Performs design quality reviews.
• All other duties as assigned.
