Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Assistant Telecommunications Engineer to support complex utility projects, including SDAC, distribution automation, cybersecurity, wireless networks, and smart grid. The role involves design of telecom pathways, equipment layouts, and structured cabling to client standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical and/or computer engineering; ABET accreditation preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to apply engineering principles to design projects and learn new tools.

Responsibilities

Assist on telecommunication project designs including pathway infrastructure and layouts.
Prepare cable schedules, BOMs, specifications, and rack/equipment layouts.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop coordinated designs for large facilities.
Support QA/QC and respond to RFIs; help with construction administration tasks.
