Job summary

Knight Electric, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support procurement across our electrical construction projects in the United States.

You will order, expedite, and manage materials to keep field crews supplied and projects on schedule, while negotiating favorable terms and maintaining vendor relationships. The role requires strong communication, attention to detail, and knowledge of electrical materials and supply chains.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license.
• 3+ years in purchasing, material ordering or procurement in electrical/construction industries.
• Working knowledge of electrical materials, equipment, and supplies.
• Strong negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with procurement/ERP software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with multiple purchase orders and deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as with project managers, field teams, and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Source and place purchase orders for electrical materials, equipment, and supplies to meet project schedules and budgets.
• Obtain and analyze competitive quotes for material requisitions.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and coordinate deliveries.
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong vendor relationships for reliable, cost-effective sources.
• Monitor pricing trends and market conditions; identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Manage field receiving and inventory control, including stock levels.
• Coordinate with site management to ensure proper receiving, staging, and storage of materials.
• Track order status and delivery dates; expediting shipments to avoid delays.
• Resolve vendor-related issues involving quality, billing, delivery, or returns.
• Maintain procurement records; ensure purchases comply with policy.
• Partner with project managers and superintendents to coordinate procurement.
• Reconcile invoices/statements and related expense docs.
• Track and report procurement metrics to support cost control and improvement.
