Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced Purchasing Agent with electrical construction experience to manage material procurement for active projects in Santa Ana, CA or Northridge, CA. You will coordinate purchasing, liaise with suppliers, and ensure timely delivery while controlling costs and maintaining quality.

The role requires 2+ years in electrical construction purchasing, proficiency with Word/Excel/Outlook, and strong vendor relations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience within the electrical construction industry.
• Strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook; advanced comfort with spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive relationships with vendor representatives and supplier contacts.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple purchasing requirements simultaneously.
• Goal-oriented with emphasis on timely execution, accuracy, and cost-conscious decision-making.
• Comfortable communicating with both field and office personnel to resolve material and purchasing issues.
• Successful completion of required background screening and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day purchasing activities for construction projects, from identifying material needs through order placement and delivery.
• Source electrical materials, equipment, and supplies from qualified vendors while following established purchasing practices.
• Prepare and release purchase orders based on project scope, material requirements, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates.
• Collaborate with Purchasing Manager to review and expand the company’s preferred supplier network.
• Gather material lists, BOMs, take-offs, and requisitions from project teams.
• Evaluate supplier pricing to support cost-conscious purchasing decisions.
• Coordinate with vendors on delivery timing, staging, and storage to support project schedules.
• Review orders for accuracy including quantities, descriptions, specifications, pricing, and delivery dates.
• Partner with logistics to track outstanding materials and resolve shortages or delays.
• Keep purchasing documentation organized and current.
• Communicate with field personnel, project management, accounting, and other teams to align purchasing with requirements.
• Assist in improving procurement workflows and supplier performance.
• Conduct purchasing activities in line with company procedures and internal controls.
• Maintain dependable attendance and follow-through.
