Job Description

Location: Boston, MA

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for enabling production throughput, reducing equipment downtime, troubleshooting issues, eliminating defects, and building technical mastery. They are a subject-matter expert in specific technologies and capable of covering multiple areas during their shift. As skills increase, they support improvements and capital projects aiming to deliver the best product at the lowest cost, with the highest quality, and in a safe environment. The focus is on electrical technical mastery for troubleshooting and proactive system improvements.

Responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting high-speed packing, making, and facilities power & controls equipment.
  • Collaborating with Operating and Project Teams to eliminate losses and improve electrical systems.
  • Performing preventive maintenance and calibrations on equipment.
  • Troubleshooting, monitoring, & programming PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Troubleshooting variable frequency drives, servo control systems, robotics.
  • Analyzing trends and technical data to identify issues proactively.
  • Building technical skills in others.
Electrical Skills Support:
  • Acquire Low Voltage Qualification (up to 1,000V).
  • Utilize tools to eliminate defects and improve systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems effectively.
  • Involved in planned maintenance downtime events.
  • Advanced programming and configuration of electrical components.
  • Electrical troubleshooting (hardware and software).
  • Monitor and maintain electrical field devices and power systems.
  • Execute electrical maintenance planning tasks.
  • Basic programming and setup of electrical components.
  • Interface with vendors, suppliers, or construction teams.
Qualifications:
  • High School/GED
  • Electrical Journeyman's license in Massachusetts
  • 2-year Electrical Technical Certification
  • 3+ years related experience
  • Must be 18+ years old
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 5+ years related experience
  • Applied electrical and controls skills in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge of PLC’s, HMI’s, instrumentation, drives, robotics, power distribution, networking, electrical safety.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and use troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience in regulated industries (Food, Cosmetic, Drug) is a plus.
  • Electrical safety awareness and self-motivation.
