Qualifications

• Equivalent combination of 9 years of education and experience after high school.
• At least 3 years of conducting inspections of construction projects and technical interpretations of the NEC.
• Attention to code compliance and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Performs construction plan reviews to verify state building and fire code compliance and issues approvals when directed by the Deputy Fire Marshal.
• Assists with inspections of construction projects in state buildings and others as required.
• Investigates complaints of reported electrical code violations as directed.
• Documents code violations and writes detailed inspection reports; follows up with re-inspections as needed.
• Assists in addressing violations and may provide testimony in court or administrative hearings.
• Provides guidance to stakeholders and contractors on electrical codes and safety standards.
• Supports fire departments and agencies in investigating electrical incidents and contributing factors.
