Blue Origin seeks an Electrical Design Engineer II to support launch vehicle ground test and integration operations. This hands-on role translates test requirements into harness designs from requirements capture to PDM release, collaborating with test, avionics, manufacturing, and quality teams.

You will design cable harnesses for ground test applications, select connectors, create harness drawings in Creo and AutoCAD Electrical, and guide technicians through fabrication, testing, and issue

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or related discipline.
• 2+ years of experience in cable harness design including schematics, wire lists, connector selection, and assembly drawings.
• Experience with procurement support and vendor coordination.
• Experience with fabrication oversight and/or hands-on fabrication.
• Harness acceptance testing (continuity, IR, hi-pot)
• Exposure to large-scale cable installations including routing, raceway planning, and installation sequencing.

Responsibilities

• Own requirements collection — extract and baseline harness requirements from test plans, block diagrams, and verbal inputs.
• Identify and resolve definition gaps before they become design problems.
• Design cable harnesses for ground test applications: vehicle-to-ground interfaces, EGSE connections, instrumentation, and power/signal distribution.
• Select and specify connector systems, contacts, backshells, and wire/cable types.
• Develop and release harness drawings (schematics, wire lists, assembly and installation drawings) in Creo and AutoCAD Electrical within Windchill PDM.
• Apply proper shielding and grounding/bonding practices per applicable standards.
• Lead design reviews and coordinate with test, avionics, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Support fabrication by guiding technicians, resolving discrepancies, and issuing redlines.
• Coordinate with procurement on component sourcing and lead times.
• Support test execution including harness installation, continuity/IR verification, and troubleshooting.
