Job summary
Blue Origin in the Los Angeles area is seeking an experienced Harness Design Engineer to contribute to the Mk1 Vehicle Electrical Harness Design team. You will develop wiring interconnect diagrams, harness assembly drawings, and installation drawings to support safe, repeatable spaceflight.
The role requires a BS in a related technical field, 3+ years designing wire harnesses for aerospace, and proficiency with Creo, Zuken, Windchill or NX/Catia, plus knowledge of wire derating and IPC/NASA
Qualifications
- B.S. in a related technical field.
- 3+ years designing wire harnesses for aerospace.
- Familiar with Creo, Zuken, Windchill or NX/Catia.
- Understanding of wire derating analysis.
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620A and NASA-STD-8739.4.
- Strong 3-D CAD design and integration skills.
Responsibilities
- Design electrical harnesses for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal.
- Select harness components and hardware, connectors, backshells, cable and wire.
- Create Wiring diagrams utilizing Zuken E3.
- Create 3D routed harness data files utilizing Creo Cabling.
- Create harness detail and installation drawings from 3D data sets.
- Design and integrate harness support brackets.
- Support design configuration development and trade studies.
- Provide technical guidance for hardware installation.
- Support the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses.
- Report on activity schedule and technical status.
- Identify opportunities for technical improvements.
